As part of the 10 year anniversary of The World is Sound we have gathered a collection of songs made from vocal looping only, sourced from within the TWIS musical community.
Through voice alone, this premier TWIS compilation travels across a vast array of sonic landscapes and thematics - the folkloric, bodies of water, connections to land, hydrofeminism, ephemeral spectres, underworlds, emotional tides and affirmations, invoked portals.

“U.F.O.” ALBUM

U.F.O. by Irena Z. Tomažin and Jule Flierl interweaves vocal soundscapes with questions around voice as a medium of elusive presence and identity.
The two voice and dance artists collaborated with Nicola Ratti and Tomaž Grom on the album that is based on their creation process towards the performance “U.F.O. - Hommage to Katalin Ladik”. It premiered in July 2021 at Sophiensaele Berlin and was since shown in Ljubljana, Brussels, Zagreb, Belgrade, Salzburg, Vitlycke and Skopje. It was also performed at the 2023 Gibanica Festival where it received the award for the best Slovenian dance piece.

The tracks are developments of loops sketches that I create to study vocal improvisation.
All tracks are sung in improvised syllabic language except for TODAY.
